Cupcake Craziness

Statistically, I am obsessed with the cupcake. I click onto a cupcake article 100% of the time that I see a link to one. Here is the latest one that I found. I found it via Dan’s shared Google Reader items. He shared a link to some other article, but a more current one on the linked site was about cupcakes!

This article says that muffins tend to have as much or more calories as cupcakes. Based on this fact, I plan to choose a cupcake over a muffin whenever there is the opportunity to do so.

The news source was The Atlantic, a magazine that I should do more research on. The writer was a food guy named Corby Kummer, and gave an excellent presentation on good versus bad cake and frosting:

The best part was that he was an opponent of red velvet cake. I realize that I am not the only one!

Cupcake Blogs

I spent the majority of the day looking at cupcake blogs on Blogger. I found one with tons of pictures, which is good technique, but the woman behind the site consistently refers to herself as a self-proclaimed ‘Cupcake Queen’, which is bad. Also, she makes her dog pose in the pictures with the cupcakes, which is pretty dumb. It made 2 hours pass by pretty well, though. Here’s the link: 52cupcakes.blogspot.com.

Neil informed me that one of the higher-ups at Google collects cupcake recipes and then populates an Excel workbook with different permutations of the same mixes. She may one day publish a book. In my opinion, I think that she should take the average of each recipe component to come up with a cupcake that 95% of people would like.

Saw a pretty awesome show at the Paradiso: MGMT.
