Cupcake Blogs

I spent the majority of the day looking at cupcake blogs on Blogger. I found one with tons of pictures, which is good technique, but the woman behind the site consistently refers to herself as a self-proclaimed ‘Cupcake Queen’, which is bad. Also, she makes her dog pose in the pictures with the cupcakes, which is pretty dumb. It made 2 hours pass by pretty well, though. Here’s the link: 52cupcakes.blogspot.com.

Neil informed me that one of the higher-ups at Google collects cupcake recipes and then populates an Excel workbook with different permutations of the same mixes. She may one day publish a book. In my opinion, I think that she should take the average of each recipe component to come up with a cupcake that 95% of people would like.

Saw a pretty awesome show at the Paradiso: MGMT.

Google Blog

There’s an official Google Blog! The URL is http://googleblog.blogspot.com. I haven’t actually read it, but I assume it’s all about platform upgrades and the like. There’s not too much useful information there. It would be funny if some random IT engineer wrote about how much he missed his long-term ex-girlfriend and now only had this blog as his sole conduit of communication. Really, I’d imagine that the Google people are a hip crowd of young recent grads, from Stanford. I learned in my numerical analysis class that Google owns the patented PageRank algorithm, that uses very sophisticated iterative methods to turn out the best search results possible, in the smallest amount of time. Basically, any intelligent person would endorse Google as the best search engine. I think this technology spills over nicely into Gmail, my new favorite thing.
