Cruesli

Cruesli (one of the cereals that is marketed in Europe from Quaker Oats) is pretty damn good. I have been buying the ‘Winter’ variety almost every time that I’ve gone to the grocery store. I slipped up a few times to buy the standard varieties, but I have always felt like I’ve needed to go back to the winter variety. It won’t be available once summer starts! The feeling is exactly like the compulsion to always buy the pumpkin flavored coffee drinks at Starbucks/Gloria Jean’s/Dunn Bros. in October. This is a great marketing strategy since I feel like the product will run out at some point. Also, I am buying into Quaker Oats’ opinion on what flavors they think the average European consumer would enjoy during the colder months.

Chic Rock

Currently listening to:

Cat Power – What Would the Community Think – experimental
Cat Power – You Are Free – best one of hers. still experimental, much better than her new “diva” sound.
Basia Bulat – Oh, My Darling – folky
Thao – We Brave Bee Stings and All – great
Feist – The Reminder – musical

Cupcake Blogs

I spent the majority of the day looking at cupcake blogs on Blogger. I found one with tons of pictures, which is good technique, but the woman behind the site consistently refers to herself as a self-proclaimed ‘Cupcake Queen’, which is bad. Also, she makes her dog pose in the pictures with the cupcakes, which is pretty dumb. It made 2 hours pass by pretty well, though. Here’s the link: 52cupcakes.blogspot.com.

Neil informed me that one of the higher-ups at Google collects cupcake recipes and then populates an Excel workbook with different permutations of the same mixes. She may one day publish a book. In my opinion, I think that she should take the average of each recipe component to come up with a cupcake that 95% of people would like.

Saw a pretty awesome show at the Paradiso: MGMT.
