Though, Hurricane Katrina left a devastating impact on large swaths of New Orleans. Tourists going to commemorate the natural disaster may have been tempted to observe the storm-torn neighborhoods. In the world of social science, this type of tourism is called “dark tourism”. In recent years, scientists have been studying why dark tourism has been gaining popularity. And as dark tourism grows, the scientific field of dark tourism grows with it. Scary.
